Natural Diabetes Treatment – The Answer is Whole Foods!

Diabetes is rising at a meteoric rate in the United States. The Centers for Disease control research shows that Americans born in the year 2000 have a 33% risk of developing diabetes by age 30. For minorities, the diabetes risk can be as high as 50%!

These statistics are unbelievable. With so many developing diabetes so young, this means we will be seeing younger and younger children with heart attacks, strokes, morbid obesity, amputations, blindness, kidney failure, and worse.

The problem is, most people don’t know how to eat a proper diabetes-proof diet and they don’t know what kind of foods to eat with type 2 diabetes.

The same diet that will help reverse diabetes is the same diet that helps you lose weight healthily,reverse heart disease, fight cancer, and be well in general!

A healthy diet for diabetes and reversing diabetes must consist of six things:

  1. Fruits
  2. Vegetables
  3. Berries
  4. Whole grains
  5. Beans
  6. Legumes

Notice there are only six types of foods on this list. No meat, no dairy, no processed foods, no refined sugars, no refined carbohydrates, no empty calories, no coke, no soda pop, no candy… Just whole foods!

This is the same diabetes diet recommended by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and Rip Esselstyn in the Engine 2 Diet and by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Ralph Moss, Dr. Pam Popper, Dr. Max Gerson, Dr. John McDougall, and many others who have helped their patients reverse chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and others.

One of my favorite recipes from the book is the Green Pizza.

Green Pizza with Veggies Recipe

Serves 2 to 3


1 jar pasta sauce (Go for no added oils, no high fructose corn syrup, etc. Better to just make your own!)
2 Kabuli crusts
8 ounces frozen spinach, thawed, rinsed and drained (You can also use fresh spinach, but you might want to steam it gently for 2-3 minutes first and drain the water)
1/2 cup of fresh whole basil leaves
2 green bell peppers, seeded and diced (Or substitute with Eggplant)
2 cups broccoli florets
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms, any variety
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1//4 cup finely ground raw cashews or 1-2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast (or both)

Preheat over to 425 degrees. Generously spread the sauce on the crusts, and layer with the remaining ingredients except for the cashews. Top with the cashews or a sprinkling of nutritional yeast (or both). Bake on a sprayed cooking sheet or pizza stone for 15 minutes.
